How I Would be an Effective MP

Open Letter to Canadians

September 3, 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Red Deer – Mountain View, AB

“If there are candidates who don’t support it (climate change plan)—or any other part of Canada’s Recovery Plan—they won’t be sitting in the caucus of a future Conservative government.” - Erin O’Toole, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, August 29, 2021

If your Member of Parliament (MP) is unable to question anything that the leader of their respective party does, publishes or stands for, what is the purpose of having that MP in your riding?

Do you want to elect someone who is beholden to the party narrative and is unwilling to support your interests? Or would it be prudent to elect someone who is willing to stand up for you, your family and your community regardless of what the issue is or what level of government the issue applies to?

I have been asked how I would be an effective MP as a member of a small political party. Here’s how:

  1. Use 135-B Press Conference Room and the National Press Theatre on a regular basis to bring national attention to issues impacting residents of Red Deer-Mountain View, specifically through the use of professionals in the fields of tax, economics, health care, Charter Rights, and others.

  2. As a member of a small political party focused on individual liberties, I am not beholden to the party, the leader or a specific narrative. This can be seen through the work I’ve done to date.

  3. I have committed to hold monthly in person town hall meetings within the riding to ensure I am learning from residents in order to effectively advocate on your behalf.

  4. I will work to build coalitions with other MPs who also promote smaller government and increased individual liberties in an effort to grow the freedom movement across Canada.

  5. Challenge decisions made by other levels of government that impact your Charter Rights and Freedoms including lockdowns, mandatory vaccines, vaccine passports and others.

  6. Work with all levels of government to reduce the size and scope of government, based on your ideas from town hall meetings, because you know what’s best for you and your family.

Sincerely,

Jared Pilon
